Why am I so tired and have no energy???

There can be many causes for this, including lack of sleep (well, obviously!), stresses on the body or mind, a vitamin or mineral deficiency, general diet, inadequate exercise, or your body systems not working as they should. Assessment as to why, and what to do about it, is something I can help you with, but I will give you a few basics here to think about.

Inadequate intake of certain vitamins and minerals can play absolute havoc on body systems – including leaving you feeling fatigued, even when you have had adequate sleep. Individual deficiencies can have varied impacts on the body, so it is important to look at exactly what is going on as a whole. Remember you are a whole person, not just a bunch of parts stuck together with body glue.

Imbalances in blood sugar levels for various reasons can leave you feeling like you are on a mental rollercoaster. Feeling tired and grumpy due to fluctuating levels (drops and spikes in blood sugar) is not uncommon – and this does NOT just relate to overweight diabetics – skinny people who are not diabetic can also be in this group.

Take some time outside to breathe deeply – you cannot overdose on fresh air! But lack of oxygen can definitely make you feel tired. Are you the person who feels like you are going to doze off during a meeting? Yes, ok, your boss may be boring…. I can’t actually fix that one!

Be very aware of your food! Much is lacking from the modern diet, so think before you stuff yet another lump of chocolate into your mouth and follow it up with a fizzy drink and a cheeseburger – or before selecting the “lite” or “low fat” options of what appear to be healthy food. This is far too often misleading.
